Launch of In Bloom 2014
Thank you to everyone who attended. There was a report in the Burton Mail and an article has been forwarded to the TVN for the May / June edition.
It was agreed that another date needed to be added for working parties at Holts Lane and the Community Garden. Liz asked if the Green Team at the school is still running and if so might they be interested in helping.
Brian and Emma had completed an audit on the street furniture and the two benches in the car park have been re-varnished and painted. The old bin by the Spotted Dog gift shop has been removed and the bins along the high street have been painted and are now split into two halves, one side for recycling the other for general rubbish.
Itinerary For The Judging Route
The Castle would like to take part as would the Museum however we have yet to hear back from Bill Beck with regards to including the fire station in the route.
We will start at the village hall and walk to the museum. Liz Staples will contact Janet Raynes to see if she is free that day. Amy Cunningham is happy to meet with the judges on the day and do a small presentation with regards to recycling.
The route will then continue up Wakefield Avenue to the Community Garden then onto Holts Lane bus stop then along Park Lane to the Castle. From here it will precede onto the Church and the War Memorial where Rick and Jane will be. From here onto the allotments then onto the Fire Station and up the by-pass, then down Burton Street along High Street and back up Monk Street to the Village Hall. Individuals will be given an itinerary so that they know how long they have to talk.
Hanging Basket & Floral Display Competition.
Posters are done and ready for printing along with 1500 flyers and Liz will do a list of streets that people are happy to deliver to.
Church 925
We have agreed to make a card for the Church in recognition of the 925 anniversary. Tutbury In Blooms 4th anniversary is on 22nd June 2014.
Hanging baskets
Businesses will be charged £15 for a hanging basket and the Village Hall will have two and the Leopard will have one. Some of the shops want to supply their own.
It was mentioned that Local Vocals would like to sponsor 1 / 2 hanging baskets and put a banner up to promote themselves.
Working Parties
3.5.14 - Litter Pick
7.5.14 - @ 7pm - Working party at Holts Lane Bus Stop
14.5.14 - Working party at the Community Garden
AOB
Open Gardens - as the community garden will be open on the Saturday could there be a plant stall in there to attract more visitors (Maybe the allotment owners might have some spare plants) and maybe a face painter. The Civic Society will be having a stall there on the day. It may be an idea to have the Gold Award on display there for people to see.
