Tutbury in Bloom - Preparing for Judging Day

Members of Tutbury in Bloom have been busy in the last week preparing for the Heart of England in Bloom judges who will be visiting Tutbury on Monday 28th July.

Team members were to be seen at the Community Garden in Wakefield Avenue on Thursday evening and the flower beds behind the bus shelter at Holts Lane on Saturday morning, ensuring these areas looked their best. Members then met again on Sunday afternoon to take part in a litter pick round the village.

Team members have also been busy in July organising a Floral Feature Competition for residents and businesses to enter. This  took place on Tuesday 15th July. The categories included hanging baskets and containers as well as the best use of a recycled container.

The number of entries was up again this year with over 33 entries including 6 entries for the Recycled Container category. The entries were judged by the Mayor Cllr Ron Clarke who was very impressed with the standard of all the entries and found it particularly difficult to chose only one winner in each category.

The results are below:-

The winners will all receive a £10 gift voucher and Certificate, they have all been invited to the Village Hall to receive their Certificates and Vouchers on Monday 28th July, when they will be joining the Heart of England in Bloom Judges and the Mayor for lunch plus representatives of over 20 organisations from Tutbury

Liz Staples Chairman said, ‘The Team is very grateful for the Mayor helping with the judging and for everyone who took the time and effort to enter.

I would also like to thank Hayes Engineering for Sponsoring the Floral Feature Competition again this year’.
